Your flex cable in the picture of your “last attempt” is shifted one pin to the right. Here’s a picture from the install guide.

It’s exactly the same with me. As long as no HDMI cable is plugged in, analog video output is perfect. I just assumed it’s interference from the PS1 Digital, after all we did remove the metal shield.

A similar thing happens to me. I have my PS1 connected to a JVC RGB monitor and if the HDMI cable is plugged in at the same time that I'm using analog video, there will be VERY faint diagonal jailbars on the RGB monitor. Sometimes other little hiccups will happen. The HDMI signal is always...

Somebody has now uploaded a very useful video explaining this process. If you’re as programming illiterate as I am, this could potentially save you HOURS of googling and fiddling.

Clearer instructions might help others doing the install. Then again, I haven’t seen other people ask about this. I guess most people doing this mod are familiar with using command line stuff.
