I'm not sure if this is a dumb question or if it has already been answered somewhere and I just missed it. I just recently came across the PS1 Digital mod and honestly I think it's the coolest thing ever. I was watching the install video and it's so entertaining. Immediately I wanted to know how it worked, how this was figured out, what skills are required, and so forth. So basically my question is, if someone wanted to get started doing this type of thing, where would one start? Is this just Computer Science or some specialized division? I've always been interested in these things for as long as I can remember. I suppose I'm more interested in @citrus3000psi and his story. How did he get started, what does he recommend for someone like me. Being able to take things apart and understand them and then build add in mods like this is something I could do for forever. I want to be able to make my own systems, engineer my own boards, understand small electronics, and so forth.
My goal is to on day be able to contribute to projects like these. Take the PS2 Digital mod for example. I wish I could offer my help in some way but, I have no expertise in this field, nor don't have spare money to help that way either.
Thanks in advance.
