Terraonion MODE thoughts?

I'm about to start a MODE + PS1D build. Weirdly, their install kit included a plastic replacement for the upper metal shielding. While there is a hole is cut out for the PS1D's thermal pad, it doesn't attach to anything. Just wondering if anyone on here has some insight about this setup. Should I replace the pad with a heatsink? Should there be a fan? Is the whole idea ill advised?

Thanks!

I've seen pictures of the MODE installed together with PS1Digital on twitter and they all had heatsinks installed. It's hard to say if it runs too hot without having some measurements. If the FPGA stays below 55C after running the system for some time, it shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for getting back to me! I'd be happy to do some testing this weekend. About thermistor placement, do you think it would be okay to mount it to the bottom of the board under the chip, or do I need to attach it directly to the chip? Any other advice/requests would be greatly appreciated.

I just did this installation. I ordered a heatsink just because everyone else seems to be using them, but I don't have anything to take temp readings.

On my system, the full reset within the PS1Digital menu hangs at the second boot screen. It has the "Playstation" text but is missing the color PS logo above the text. Short reset works. I'm curious to see if you'll have this problem too.
