Loss of Picture During Gameplay

Hello there! I recently completed the DCDigital mod and everything was working perfectly! Here is a video I made on it (by the way, love all your work, Thank you!):

I started working on part 2 of the video series where I install a GDEMU, DreamPSU, and Noctua Fan Mod. I installed everything and again everything was working perfectly. I loaded the GDEMU with a few games and started playing D2. About 20-30 min in the picture totally went out randomly but the console was still on. I turned it off then turned it back on and still I have no image. Thinking it was the PSU I put the orignal back in and still nothing. Thinking maybe the GDEMU was bad, I put the GD-Rom back and still nothing. Then I reverted the console back to the original fan (ie i removed all the other mods except the DCDigital) and still no picture, even though the console turned on. So I looked at the ribbon cable and the pins and couldn't see any visible bridges so I attempted to touch up the solder joints to see if that would fix anything and still no image.

Then I noticed my wire from R603 to P2 was chewed up because it was close to a screw post and the screw ate away at the wire's shielding exposing the wire itself. So I replaced that wire with a new one and made sure those wires weren't anywhere close to the screw posts and still I have no image.

At this point I touched up the wire probably one too many times and damaged a bit of the ribbon cable (2 left most pads on the video DAC closest to the end of the ribbon cable). Those 2 points didn't seem to be used for anything except for support so i carefully cut them off since I didn't want them to short out any pins.

At this point I touched it up one more time and still no image. The DCDigital is still getting power because I can see it's wifi hotspot.

I ordered another ribbon cable just in case, but if you have any advice it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Tito

As an update, I just installed the new ribbon cable and still no video.

I was reading some of the other posts and i came across a link to the LED status patterns page. My LED is off and it was also off with the older ribbon cable. I am wondering if the console or the DCHDMI board got fried somehow. Would the frayed P1 to R602 wire fry the system is it was shorted out? I will get pictures of my solder joints but they look pretty solid.

Thanks!

I had a similar issue. Everything was 100%, but after about 20/30 min, most of my colors got janked. The next day, I resoldered some points, after I found a small bridge. It could be due to the system warming up. Thermal expansion and all of that.

DSC04593.jpg, is there a bridge on pins 5/6 from the left on the cable side?

Thank you for the reply! Yep, that was the first thing I checked. I had read another persons post and they mentioned that it could be a bad connection that was exacerbated by thermal expansion. I went over all my joints and reconfirmed that there were no bridged and all joints were good. Today, I removed the ribbon cable and put it in a different known working DC motherboard thinking that the motherboard was damaged from the DreamPSU. The new motherboard also didn't work.

I actually soldered the 2 resistors back onto the old motherboard to see if it still worked and it does, so the motherboard was never damaged.

I am now thinking that the DCDigital board is either damaged due to the DreamPSU or the frayed wire that I mentioned in my orignal post caused the DCDigital to break or become bricked.

I am hoping the Citris3000 will offer some insight.

Thanks again! Cheers!
