I have recently installed my DCDigital and HDMI-wise, all is well. Perfect picture, perfect sound.
However, the DCDigital seems to be forcing a bad VGA mode at all times. If I plug in composite, I get no signal with sound.
Steps taken to remedy the situation:
- Checked continuity and have found no instances of bridging.
- Reflowed solder on the DAC near CSYNC and HSYNC pins.
- Checked continuity from the flex cable pads (R610 & R609) to pins 6/7 on the AV out.
- Assured the DCDigital was set to "Cable Select". (Changed modes and still made no difference)
The only solution to restore composite was to disconnect the ribbon cable from the DCDigital. Disconnecting the ribbon made it act like a stock Dreamcast in terms of auto-switching when using a composite cable or VGA box.
Is there an issue with my DCDigital itself? The bottom adhesive is covering all exposed pads on the bottom and it operates correctly so I don't think there is a short there. Any ideas on what could be causing it to be in a stuck bad VGA mode state? According to the SYSINFO on GDEMU, it always reads the video mode as VGA, even if I have a composite cable plugged in or no cable at all. With the DCDigital ribbon disconnected, SYSINFO reads it as COMPOSITE/RF.
Any suggestions are highly appreciated, it would be insanely unfortunate if the DCDigital was faulty out of the box.
