I received a modded dreamcast today and it worked fine for a few hours, then after I turned it off and on to change games it started to not function correctly. Under Force VGA it duplicates the screen and displays it twice. It now will only display the screen correctly in "cable detect" mode, but at a lower resolution. All the tests show hearts, no x. I myself did not install the dchdmi but from a reputable modder. Any solutions? Or should I have this checked by a modder to see if any of the solder points were done incorrectly. As I said it functioned fine for a while and then stopped so I am not sure what would have changed.
DCdigital worked fine, then force VGA mode started to duplicate the screen and display it on the tv twice.

I would reach out to the installer about the issue and have them check the flex cable. It sounds like thermal expansion caused the issue after the console warmed up. It’s likely related to pins 6 and 7 on the flex or the component nearby on the flex.

Got it. Yeah that would explain why it wasn't an issue right away. I moved it to a better spot and actually have a laptop cooling mat so if I see the issue again I'll have the modder look at it. He said he would check it out and fix it for free. Thanks for the more technical advice though on the pins!

This issue is solved. Verified all the connections on the flex, even swapped the flex and DCDigital board to be sure, only to receive the same results. Tested with VGA and got the same duplicate screen after a few hours of playtime so the motherboard was at fault. Swapped the motherboard and the issue went away.
