Audio crackling and inaudible

I was hoping someone could help me. I've managed to install the DCDigital I purchased from 8bitmods in the UK and the video outputs perfectly and I can get in to the OSD without any issues.

However, the audio crackles whenever there is supposed to be sound. This DOES NOT happen when using the old RF cable.

It's worth mentioning that when I was soldering the flex cable to the audio IC, the surface pad came off (3rd pin over from the left and I've highlighted this in the attached photo). I suspect this may be the culprit but I'm not sure why if works OK over the RF cable as it doesn't seem like the flex cable has a link to that pin. I am unable to create a jumper on the PCB to this particular pin as I'm unsure where the trace goes.

I have used a multimeter/continuity tester on all solder points on the flex cable and I don't have any bridges so I'm at a loss.

Also, I noticed the video tutorial mentioned that JP1 needs to be jumped but I couldn't find this on the flex cable.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

That pad should not matter.

A couple things, where did you get the flex cable from? I do not sell black cables. I did years ago, and those include the JP1? Did you get this cable from 8bitmods?

Also the soldering does look really bad. There are lots of areas that needs to be fixed up.

Thanks for you reply and yes I agree, the soldering is terrible.

Sorry, what I should have mentioned which I failed to in my original post is the flex cable that came with the 8bitmods unit was the same one as shown on their website which is the orange colour one, not black. However, I messed this one up so bought this as a replacement:

Is this not the correct cable? I wanted to order one from 8bitmods but they don't seem to sell the flex cable on it's own.

The crackling audio is related to bridges on the flex. i would redo the soldering.

Also, kaico has been known to cut many corners, I would avoid their products.

Ok brill, I will avoid using them and I'll re-do the soldering and go from there. Thanks for your help.
